The Fat Cow is a relaxed café, food store and catering business, located in the picturesque town of Timboon. It has established itself as a meeting place for locals and tourists alike. The ethos of the food is simple – it’s wholesome, it’s fresh and it’s all made here!
We pride ourselves on only using quality ingredients and food items are cooked daily on the premises. Our breakfast and lunch menus list the favourites, such as the Fat Cow pies, vegie frittata and burgers, whilst our ever-changing specials board lists seasonal offerings and modern flavour combinations.
Timboon is a vibrant community with a diverse range of local producers. We do our best to support the regional suppliers by using their quality ingredients, and where possible, we offer our customers organic, free range and sustainable food products. Whilst exploring the region of Timboon and the 12 Apostles Gourmet Trail, be sure to pop in to the Fat Cow and say Hi!
We like to drink good coffee, so that's what we serve at the Fat Cow.
As well as the usual suspects, there’s freshly brewed Prana Chai, fresh juices and milkshakes. We’re passionate about supporting Victorian independent wineries and breweries, so that’s what we’re pouring on our menu. Also available to take home!
The Fat Cow is open for breakfast, lunch, coffee & cake, Monday to Friday. Pull up a chair at the timber communal table, grab a stool at the window bench or fill a table with your family and friends. You’re welcome to join us anytime, but we encourage you to make a booking for large groups. Please contact us on 5598 3177.
All of our menu items are available to take away or take home. Arancini balls, curry, frittata…
Perfect to ‘heat and serve’ whilst staying in town and exploring the area. While you’re picking up dinner, grab a bottle of local wine to wash it down with, there’s plenty to choose from!
We also offer a range of take-home goods from the quality producers that we feature on our menu, Zeally Bay Sourdough, Schultz Organic Dairy products, Lana’s Garden Preserves, Mt Zero Olives and Timboon Honey. Other items from local craftspeople, second-hand books and artworks are displayed and available to purchase.
The Fat Cow Food Co offers catering services in house and off site. Please email hello@thefatcow.com.au to discuss availability and services.
Timboon, a must visit
Exciting breakfast/brunch menu with many dishes l wanted to have. The Rosti, poached eggs, avocado and rocket was amazing. So good we made the 40 min trip from Warrnambool to have it again the next day. Breakfast roll was tasty too. Great coffee. Friendly service. A winning combination. - Janie G
Great food, tasty chai, friendly staff
Better coffee than most cafés in Melbourne. I've stopped here twice now, 6 years apart, and it was great both times. Definitely worth a stop if you are driving the great ocean road. Plus the décor is quirky and fun. The french toast was a stand out for us. - Chantelle E
Will be back!
Fat Cow has to be one of the cosiest and most inviting cafes around! AMAZING staff, even better food and it's fairly priced for the quality of ingredients and the effort put into it. Will be going back as much as I can over summer. Cannot recommend it enough. - Marwolil
We left feeling happy and full!
Some of the best food available while travelling along/around the Great Ocean Road! We came here for lunch and for around $15 per meal, each was extremely generous in size and of the highest quality. Their chips are hand-made and the aioli is to die for. Coffee is great and staff are friendly and welcoming. - ML
The highlight of our visit to Great Ocean Road
This was definitely the highlight of our visit to Great Ocean Road. We ordered the daily specials - chicken curry with rice and pappadams as well as the pho. They were both spot on! My son had the beef burger and that was delish as well. Coffees are top notch!
We came back a second time the next day to do dinner takeaways as the place shuts early. We also got ourselves some almond croissants and a loaf of sourdough for brekkie the day after! As you can see - we loved it! Don’t miss the orange almond cake.
We were based in Port Campbell and ate dinner at the very meh restaurants there. Wish we had done take always from here on those days too.
